Joy Worldwide Inc. Study Abroad Scholarship Program
Our scholarship program is designed to support up to 30 African American undergraduate students each year. To qualify, applicants must be accepted into a study abroad program lasting three months or more. Finalists will be invited for an interview. Learn more about the program components below.
Scholarship + Language Platform
Cohort members receive a $500 - $750 scholarship and 6 months of access to a language learning platform, enhancing both their financial support and language skills for a more enriching study abroad experience.
Monthly Reflections + Photo Contest
Cohort members receive monthly reflection questions, and materials on our program pillars designed to help them process and deeply engage with their study abroad experience.
Cohort members have the opportunity to enter a Study Abroad Photo Contest and compete to win extra cash and amazing prizes while showcasing their unique international experience!
JWW Network + Office Hours
Cohort members gain exclusive access to the JWW Network, a valuable resource for connecting with mentors, discovering career opportunities, and fostering community engagement.
They also enjoy access to JWW Office Hours, where they can schedule time every Friday to meet with a JWW network member for personalized discussions on their professional development, goals, or to receive expert advice.
Joy Worldwide Inc. Flight Program
Our Flight Voucher program will cover one of the largest financial barriers for students, international flights. To qualify, applicants must be a Pell Grant recipient and accepted into a study abroad program lasting three months or more. Applicants are required to write an essay and finalists will be invited for an interview. Learn more about the program components below.
Round-trip flight to host city
Cohort members receive a round-trip flight voucher to their host city for their study abroad program.
Workshops + Monthly Reflections
Cohort members will participate in a pre-trip workshop to prepare for their time abroad. We’ll discuss what to expect, address any questions, and hear from speakers on how to enhance their study abroad experience. Additionally, they will receive monthly reflection questions and access to the JWW Network.
JWW Network + Office Hours
Cohort members gain exclusive access to the JWW Network, a valuable resource for connecting with mentors, discovering career opportunities, and fostering community engagement.

Joy Worldwide Inc. Passport and Visa Program
Our Passport and Visa Program will be for African American college students needing financial assistance with obtaining a passport or visa. To qualify, applicants must be accepted into a short-term or long-term study abroad program. The scholarship award will cover passport or visa application fees. Applicants must submit their receipts for reimbursement within one month of submitting their passport or visa application.
