John Lyons and Ashley Neyer Join the Joy Worldwide Inc. Advisory Board

Their combined expertise and shared dedication to advancing global education and student success will be invaluable to our mission. With their support, we will continue to empower future international leaders through education and opportunity. We are honored to have their insight and leadership as we continue to grow our impact globally.
Biography:
John Lyons: “I am a Senior Leader within the Commercial Organization at American Express Global Business Travel, where I lead a large portfolio of our most important Global clients. In this role I have responsibility for leading a very diverse Global Client Management team, located across all geographies, committed to helping our clients achieve their program objectives, while also ensuring we are focused on achieving our company growth priorities and individual ambitions. George Floyd’s murder made me realize I was silent on too many important topics, prompting me to get involved as an ally for our Black Engagement Network (BEN). For the past couple of years, I have been the Global Exec Sponsor for BEN and the Exec Sponsor for our partnership with 20/20 Levels in the UK, a fantastic organization that helps underrepresented young people secure roles in the corporate workplace. I am originally from Dublin, have over 35 years’ experience and now live just outside London. I am married with three grown up children, who are the best reverse mentors, and I am a keen sports fan.”
Ashley Neyer: “I bring over a decade of experience in international education, specializing in study abroad programming and expanding access for historically underrepresented students. I have led strategic initiatives at the university level to develop inclusive, student-centered global experiences that foster personal growth, academic success, and cross-cultural understanding. I am deeply committed to equity in international education and work to remove barriers that limit student participation. As an Advisory Board member for Joy Worldwide, I will provide critical insight into the study abroad landscape, student engagement strategies, and the evolving needs of diverse student populations. My guidance will help Joy Worldwide align its scholarship programs with areas of greatest impact, ultimately advancing more equitable access to transformative global opportunities.”
Why did you decide to join the Advisory Board of Joy Worldwide?
John Lyons: “I decided to join the Advisory Board of Joy Worldwide Inc. as I share Joy’s passion around helping African American students to become global citizens, build their careers, pour into their community, and impact change. Driving meaningful change through action and not words, has given me tremendous purpose in recent years and Joy Worldwide is a perfect fit to enable me to continue on this journey of personal purpose and change for good.”
Ashley Neyer: “I decided to join the Advisory Board of Joy Worldwide because I truly believe in the organization’s mission and impact. As a long-time advocate for expanding access to study abroad, I’m continually inspired by Joy’s vision and the way the organization is meeting the needs of students who are often overlooked by traditional funding structures. In a time when national funding for global education is increasingly uncertain, it's more important than ever to support innovative efforts like Joy Worldwide that are committed to equity and access. Being part of this work is both a personal passion and a professional priority.”
