As a Computer Science major at Spelman College, I discovered coding as another form of creative expression after growing up as a dancer with limited access to computer science. Studying abroad in Taiwan will allow me to explore how different cultures approach technology, design, and innovation, especially in web development and artificial intelligence, while strengthening my commitment to building inclusive, empathetic technology that serves global communities.”

  • Saiyvionn Williams

    Hometown: San Diego

    Host country: Granada University

What does being selected mean to you?

“As a young Black man from a low-income background and a first-generation college student, this award represents opportunity, encouragement, and belief in my potential. Growing up, higher education often felt out of reach, not due to lack of ambition, but because of financial limitations and limited access to guidance. This scholarship removes a significant barrier and allows me to focus fully on my academic and personal development. Being the first in my family to attend college carries both responsibility and pride. I am motivated to succeed not only for myself, but also to set an example for my family and community.”
