Why do you want to study abroad?
“Since I was very young, I have dreamt of traveling to see the beauty of the world and all the people who reside in it. I have always been enamored by other cultures and loved learning about how they interact with one another. By studying abroad, I will be able to fully immerse myself in another culture. This immersion experience will help me broaden my perspective on international affairs so that I will be able to bring new and fresh ideas to the field when I start my career. I hope this experience living abroad will be the first of many in my life”
What do you see yourself doing in 5-10 years?
“I hope to work at a multinational corporation working on tactics to expand into foreign markets. I mostly want to find ways to connect people across borders, cultures, and languages.”
Kentrell Louis
Home University: Rhodes College
Host Country: England
Why do you want to study abroad?
“Coming from a small, low-income town such as Franklin, Louisiana, the thought of traveling internationally was a dream that everyone thought was unachievable. I want to set an example for my community and show that anything is possible if you believe and continue to work towards your goals. Additionally, getting a first-hand perspective on how other cultures interact will fuel my understanding of public opinion and controversy towards political and international agendas.”
What do you see yourself doing in 5-10 years?
“In 5-10 years, I hope to work as a diplomat to help create an equal and fair global international system.”
Ann West
Home University: Goucher College
Host Country: Finland
Why do you want to study abroad?
“I would like to study abroad to immerse myself in a new culture and step outside my comfort zone. I want to be able to show my friends and family back home that there is a possibility to escape the limiting box you are born into. I’m not defined by my circumstances or lack thereof. I know that studying abroad will provide me with a new outlook on life and give me the ability to succeed.
What do you see yourself doing in 5-10 years?
“I plan on becoming a lawyer. There are not many black lawyers, specifically, those who are transgender. The end goal is to open my own law firm that is LGBTQ POC centered to inspire and motivate members of my community and support the most marginalized people in our country.”
Nejere' Onomakpome

Host Country: India, South Africa, Argentina
Why do you want to study abroad?
“The opportunity to explore different sectors of the world, indulge in different cultures, and see firsthand the work I desire to do as a physician, is what inspired me to study abroad. I will taste and see a glimpse of what my future will look like, make friends, create connections, and begin to take steps towards providing medicine no matter the distance, insurance, or other barriers that are at play.”
What do you see yourself doing in 5-10 years?
“In 5-10 years, I see myself finishing medical school and starting residency programs focusing on cardiac-obstetrics. In addition to this, continuing to travel abroad and work in the community for maternal and child health. Lastly, I see myself working with the National Health Corps providing healthcare to those who need it the most.”
